Meet the team: Jay
Tell us a bit about you
I’m 23, always loved creating and designing, seeing my ideas come to life is what keeps me going and I love that I am able to make that happen. Originally I wanted to be an engineer, then quickly realized I wasn’t so keen on math’s and physics, so opted for the ‘easier’ option of product design engineering at university. This is where I met Helder and soon after Erika. I now obsess over colour palettes, materials, and furniture daily and wouldn’t have it any other way. I also have a small best friend in the form of a dog, Freddie.
What is your role at three designs?
My role at three designs is a fun one. I am the interior designer here which means I get to create livable art – or at least that’s how I see it. I look at mood boards, material selection, furnishing, and lighting. Anything you can think of within an interior, I curate and design.
What do you wish you were better at?
Drawing. I would love to be able to sit for hours on end drawing whatever came to mind.
Designer/ artist that inspires you?
Kanye West and Axel Vervordt
What is your favorite thing at the moment?
My Favorite thing at the moment is probably hiking, especially with it coming up to summer, love just taking the day to get out, do some tree bathing and see some amazing views that the UK has to offer.
One of your proudest moments?
One of my proudest moments would have to be achieving a first in my degree, after being told by another university when applying that I would have to take a foundation year.
Favorite tv show?
The Office (US)
The goal for the year?
My goal for the year is to read at least a book a month, I tried this last year and only got to march so shouldn’t be too hard to beat that.
Favorite Colour?
I have never been able to pinpoint an exact colour because I change my mind too much, but if I had to say a general colour it would be green, in every shade. With a close second being brown.
Best advice you’ve ever received?
If you cant move up, move sideways. This is definitely something that has applied to me throughout my career so far, as long as I’m still moving in a direction that’s not backwards, I’m doing something right.
